Nursery News September 2017

Now that the Festival is over and everywhere is much less busy, we plan to resume our usual programme of trips. Our nursery is very well placed to access all the fantastic local attractions and trips out are enjoyed by both the children and adults. If you ever have a spare morning or afternoon to help out with trips then we’d love to have you along! Our usual weekly outdoor learning programme is as follows:

Mondays – Meadows Swingpark (mainly younger children)

Tuesdays – Enjoy a ball

Wednesdays – Glencairn Care Home (mixed ages, group of same 6 children for 5 fortnightly visits)/ Library/ Museum

Thursdays – Forest Schools (Blackford Pond or Sciennes Woodland)

Fridays – Meadows Park / Museum

We also have weekly trips to the fruit shop as well as generally monthly trips to Clambers, at the RCP and Mini Zoomers at Summerhall for mixed ages.

We would like to welcome Elisabetta to Meadows. Elisabetta has been providing cover for us whilst at Supermums and we were delighted to hear that she wanted to be a permanent part of our team.

We will also be welcoming Sara & Karen this month. Both Sara & Karen are joining us from Stepping Stones Nursery which is unfortunately closing down due to the closure of the Sick Kids. Both Sara & Karen are fully qualified and have many years of experience working in the early years sector. Sara will be joining our middle floor team & Karen our ground floor team.

Sadly we will be saying goodbye to Erin & Carolann who are moving to join our Pilrig team. Erin was previously based at Meadows at Pilrig and is returning to be closer to home. Carolann has been with Meadows for 3 years and wants a move to broaden her experience. We would like to thank them both for all their hard work during their time at Millerfield Place.

Our middle floor team will now be Louise, Garazi, Elisabetta, Katy D and Sara led by Caitlin and Katie G.

Our Ground floor team will be Denisa, Angela & Karen led by Carrie.

Staff CPD

Staff attended a full day paediatric and child first aid course this month where everyone gained up to date knowledge of how to deal with illnesses and first aid situations.
